Gilisoft RAMDisk can help you access your data faster by creating RAM-based partitions. The created partition is used just the same as a standard drive. As it will be assigned a drive letter, you can browse it, save data and share it on a network. The main difference of creating a RAM disk instead of using your hard drive is the resulting increase in data access speed. If you are wondering what may happen to the data you store on this type of partition when you shut down your machine, the application lets you create image files that you can mount or save at will. These files can be stored on local hard disks, so you do not need to worry because your information will not disappear along with the other data in your RAM memory.
Using the application is very simple because it has a straightforward interface. The process of creating a new partition or mounting an image file will probably seem very easy for you, because there is a wizard to help you do that. However, in case you face any difficulty, you can always consult the online help. However, one thing that may frighten some inexpert users is the selection of a file system, as the program supports creating NTFS, FAT16 and FAT 32 partitions.
The speed at which you can retrieve or store your data will depend on multiple factors, but it is mainly dependent on your RAM memory card intrinsic speed. Equally, the size of the new drive is limited by your RAM size. Compared to other products of the same type, Gilisoft RAMDisk ranks as average according to data access speed. Perhaps you would like to hear that there are programs just as good available at no cost.
